JAKARTA - The East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) has deployed personnel to deal with flooding on Jalan Bujana Tirta in Pisangan Timur Village, Pulogadung District.

Head of Operations for the East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Gatot Sulaeman, said that his party had prepared six personnel and rubber boats at the location in anticipation of a request for evacuation of residents affected by the flood.

"Meanwhile, members stand by at the location. We also deploy an inflatable boat to help if there are residents who need evacuation assistance," said Gatot Sulaeman in East Jakarta, Thursday, October 6.

Jalan Bujana Tirta was hit by floods with a height ranging from 60-70 centimeters (cm). The flood was the result of heavy rainwater that was not accommodated in the waterways.

Local resident, Marwan said, the flood occurred at around 15.30 WIB due to heavy rain that had been pouring since noon.

"If it rains heavily for more than an hour, it will immediately flood," said Marwan.

As a result of the flood, residents' access to Jalan Bujana Tirta was cut off. A number of two-wheeled and four-wheeled riders who want to pass must find alternative routes to continue their journey.

A number of motorcyclists who dared to pass also experienced engine failure due to the flood.

"There were a lot of motorbikes that broke down here because they were desperate to break through. The vehicles parked around were also all submerged," said Marwan.
