Hundreds Of Natural Resources Personnel Dispatched To Overcome Floods At Several Points In Central Jakarta

JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta Water Resources Agency routinely dredges rivers and deploys 860 personnel to anticipate and deal with floods in this rainy season.

"Anticipate inundation during the rainy season as we do regularly and coincidentally we have sufficient facilities and infrastructure so that we can carry out dredging," said the Head of the Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-Department, Mustajab when interviewed in Jakarta, Thursday, October 6th.

Mustajab said Central Jakarta is traversed by the Ciliwung and Krukut rivers. Of the two rivers, there are Cideng River and Abdul Muis River which are anticipated by dredging using heavy equipment because the area is wide and quite wide.

In addition, there is also an inspection road for controlling the right-left distance. In Gambir District, drainage is made by an integrated manual method.

"The Jati Baru drainage, Health Road, Gambir, Petojo drainage, all of this is done manually and must be integrated if it is not connected, meaning that inundation will definitely occur," he said.

Drainage is a channel used to channel excess water mass so that this channel has an important role to avoid inundation.

Mustajab said that this rainy season was handled by preparing infrastructure such as Individual Service Providers (PJLP) and tools.

"Before the inundation occurs or before the rain occurs, we prepare infrastructure facilities such as PJLP tools used for dredging and cleaning main and micro canals," he said.

This is a mitigation or preparation that has been carried out in addition to the presence of mobile pumps that have been prepared.

Mustajab said that there were 860 personnel spread over eight sub-districts as well as service units to anticipate and deal with floods in Central Jakarta.

"We have deployed 860 personnel to anticipate this inundation or flooding in the Central Jakarta area," he said.
