Scary Story Of KKN Di Desa Penari Steals Southern California Residents' Attention

The film KKN di Desa Penari, by Manoj Punjabi, was present in two United States cinemas, one of which was Regal Edward Imax, located in Ontario, South California/DOC Indonesian Embassy in Los Angeles.

JAKARTA - The film KKN di Desa Penari once again made the world of Indonesian cinema proud. After becoming the highest-grossing film with 9.2 million viewers in Indonesia, KKN di Desa Penari began to spread to the Americas.

The film by Manoj Punjabi, which is based on a true story, is present in two US cinemas, one of which is Regal Edward Imax, located in Ontario, Southern California.

The presence of the film KKN di Desa Penari certainly received a rousing welcome from the community and the Indonesian Diaspora, especially those living in the Southern California region.

Not a few of them are curious and waiting for the presence of a horror film adapted from the phenomenal story of six students who are carrying out a Community Service Program in a remote village.

“I am very happy to finally be able to watch the film KKN di Desa Penari here. We are proud that Indonesian films can be shown in the United States, especially since this film is also very popular in Indonesia. Not wanting to be left behind, the extended family of the Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles also came to Ontario to watch a film that had received high public interest in the country. The Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia, Saud P. Krisnawan, and Mrs. Dyah Krisnawan were also seen as the audience.

"I feel proud that one of the best works of the nation's children can color the big screen in California, and it turns out to be no less scary and cool than other foreign films," said Saud.

The film KKN di Desa Penari began airing at the Regal Edwards Ontario Palace Cinema, since September 23, 2022 and will end its broadcast period on September 29, 2022.

"Hopefully, the presence of the film KKN di Desa Penari will be the first step and pave the way for the film industry in the country to penetrate the Hollywood market," added Saud.
