Police Prepare 176 Electric Vehicles To Secure Bali G20 Summit

JAKARTA - The National Police has prepared 176 electric vehicles consisting of 88 electric cars and 88 electric motorcycles to secure the G20 Summit to accelerate the use of battery-based electric motorized vehicles.

"We will start from implementing security at the G20 Summit, as many as 88 electric cars have been prepared," said National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, September 22.

The use of electric cars in securing the G20 Summit is in line with Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Use of Battery-Based Electric Motorized Vehicles ("Battery Electric Vehicles") as Operational Service Vehicles and/or Individual Vehicles for Central Government Agencies and Local Governments.

"Of course, we are slowly, gradually in accordance with the government's direction to start shifting from fossil vehicles to electric cars," said Sigit.

Therefore, the National Police Chief reminded his staff to ensure maximum preparation, including checking batteries in the implementation of security at the G20 Summit.

“Please check it properly so that in time it can actually operate properly because it requires special training. The main thing, pay attention to the battery. Then the fossil car maybe every gas station we can stop by, but if the electric car must really be counted. Please really control this," said the National Police Chief.

There are a number of special instructions for the National Police Chief from President Jokowi, namely to gradually prioritize the use of battery-based electric motorized vehicles, formulate, determine regulations, and allocate budgets.

Then there are instructions to realize the program for implementing the conversion of operational and/or individual Police service vehicles, as well as providing priority scale services for the registration process, identification, and change of STNK, TNKB, and BPKB resulting from the conversion of fuel motor vehicles into battery-based electric motor vehicles.
