Safeguard Himself From KPK Target, Ex Walkot Cimahi Bribes Ex Investigator Of Gratuity Money From His Men

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that former Cimahi Mayor Ajay M. Priatna received gratification in the form of money from his subordinates, state civil servants (ASN) at the Cimahi City Government.

KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Karyoto said that the money from the gratification was allegedly given by Ajay to former KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju and a lawyer named Maskur Husein. This gift is intended to protect him from the target of the anti-corruption commission's operations.

"The money given by AMP allegedly came from receiving gratuities given by several civil servants at the Cimahi City Government," Karyoto said at a press conference at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, August 18.

Karyoto did not mention how much money Ajay received from the gratuity. Investigators are currently still investigating. "There will still be further investigation," he said.

Furthermore, it is suspected that Ajay took the initiative to secure himself after hearing that the KPK was investigating allegations of corruption related to the distribution of social assistance funds (bansos) in West Bandung Regency, West Java.

He became acquainted with Stepanus Robin, who used to be a KPK investigator after receiving recommendations from two residents of Sukamiskin Prison, Bandung, namely Radian Ashar and Saiful Bahri.

The money given to Stepanus Robin and a lawyer named Maskur Husain reached Rp500 million. This figure is smaller than the request of the two of them, which amounted to Rp. 1.5 billion.

As a result of his actions, Ajay must now inhabit the KPK Detention Center in Lot C1 for the first 20 days from August 18 to September 6.

This is the second time Ajay has to return to the KPK Detention Center. Previously, he had been named a suspect in the bribery of licensing a hospital project in Cimahi City.

As a result of his actions, he was later sentenced to 2 years in prison, which is lower than the demands of the KPK prosecutor, which is 7 years in prison. He then served his sentence at the Sukamiskin Class I Prison before finally being released and being picked up by the anti-corruption commission again.
