JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conveyed that international trust in Indonesia is increasing sharply.
According to the head of state, his visit to the battlefield some time ago was specifically trusted by the global community to help reduce conflict and become one of the solutions to the world security crisis.
"Indonesia is accepted by Russia and Ukraine as a bridge to peace. Big countries accept it, even though geopolitics is hot," Jokowi said during a speech at the MPR Annual Session and a joint session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and Regional Representative Council (DPD), quoted from the Presidential Secretary's YouTube channel, Tuesday, August 16.
In addition, the global community's trust in Indonesia is manifested by the appointment of President Jokowi by the United Nations as one of the leaders who is trusted to be a member of the Champions Group of the Global Crisis Response Group (GCRG) in charge of handling global crises.
Also this year, Jokowi said Indonesia would become the President of the G20, the organization of the 20 largest economies in the world. Meanwhile, in 2023, Indonesia has been decided to become the Chair of ASEAN to replace Cambodia.
"This means that we are at the peak of global leadership and have a great opportunity to build international cooperation," said Jokowi.
Jokowi added that the great trust of the international community can also be felt at home.
"Downstream and domestic manufacturing continue to grow rapidly. Investment growth has also increased sharply, of which 52 percent are outside Java," he said.
This is in line with structural reforms for competitiveness and business climate. Including, Jokowi continued, improvements to the investment ecosystem and the growth of MSMEs.
"This means that our economy is not only growing rapidly, but also growing evenly, towards an Indonesia-centric development," he said.
