JAKARTA - Four cyclists over the age of 60 from Bandung, West Java, completed cycling around Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara for four days from August 10 to August 14, 2022.

The four cyclists are Ronald Agusta (60), Asep Saefudin (60), Hendriyantara (60), and Rachmat Bozo (67).

"Saturday afternoon, the team arrived in Mataram City. Sunday was the last ride from Mataram to Lembar Harbor, West Lombok," said Ronald Agusta, a member of the biking team who is also the founder of the PALAWA Nature Lovers Student Association (PMPA) at Padjadjaran University, quoted from Antara.

Ronald and his three friends toured Lombok Island in five stages, namely, stage 1 from Lembar Harbor to Kuta Mandalika (48 km), stage 2 from Kuta Mandalika to Suela (74 km), stage 3 from Suela to Senaru (53 km), stage 4 from Senaru to Mataram (84 km), and stage 5 from Mataram to Sheet (21 km).

He said cycling on the island of Lombok is indeed cool because of its beautiful landscape from the coast to the mountains.

"We rode from the coast to the foot of Mount Rinjani. The climb was quite challenging," he said.

Especially on the way from Suela, East Lombok to Pusuk Sembalun. "But it paid off with a beautiful view with the backdrop of Mount Rinjani," he said.

This ride is also to introduce the culture of the Sasak Tribe, which is illustrated by the team costume or jersey with Sasambo ornaments while cycling around the island of Lombok.

Sasambo is an acronym for the names of three major tribes in West Nusa Tenggara, namely Sasak, Samawa, Mbojo.

Sasambo ornaments, which are often used in batik and woven motifs, include pictures of houses on stilts, barns, cow kelotok, geckos, pottery, pearls, papaya leaves, and water spinach.

"At the same time, this ride completes the trip after previously cycling from Bandung to Bali in August 2021," he said.*
