Anies Baswedan Was Nominated For PKS Presidential Candidate, But All Decisions Were Knocked Down By Palu In Early 2023

JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) has yet to determine the political direction of carrying out a presidential candidate in the 2024 Simultaneous Election.

"If PKS is still in communication with other parties. God willing, maybe by the end of the year or early next year (the name of Bacapres) will appear," said PKS Syuro Council Chairman Salim Segaf Al Jufri, in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Monday, August 8, quoted from Antara.

When asked about several names that were predicted to run as presidential candidates, one of which was Anies Baswedan, said Salim, they were still included in the proposal.

"Yes, including those names (Anies) are included in our nomination to communicate with all of them. Now, we are still looking, because the requirements (Presidential Threshold) are not easy," said the former Minister of Social Affairs under President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Regarding the exploration of a coalition with other political parties, said Salim, when the 20 percent is sufficient, the presidential candidate will be announced later.

"The coalition is not final, but we will continue to do it. With which party, we continue to communicate, it is not finished yet," explained the former Indonesian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Oman.

As for the symbols of figures in the PKS body to be encouraged by presidential candidates, he said, it was a decision of the PKS Syuro Council and until now he is still in the position of leading figures, but it has not been decided to enter the presidential candidate process.

So far PKS, said Salim, the winning team continues to move and socialize the party to the public in preparation for the legislative elections which coincide with the presidential and vice presidential elections on February 14, 2024.

"Our target is, hopefully we can increase the number of votes in the double digits, hopefully," said one of the scholars who also received the Mahaputera Adipradana award in 2014.
