JAKARTA - Central Jakarta Satpol PP and Senen Sub-district carried out control of street vendors (PKL) selling in the HKSN Park area and Jalan Station Senen, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, August 3.

The control was carried out because the traders had occupied the sidewalks so that it was difficult for pedestrians to cross.

Head of the Central Jakarta Satpol PP Head of Civil Service Investigator (PPNS), Gatra Pratama Putra, said the activities carried out by his staff were routine activities between the Central Jakarta Satpol PP and Senen District.

This activity is for the supervision and control of peace, public order related to pedestrian or sidewalk facilities.

"Sidewalks may not be used for trading, sidewalks are public facilities for pedestrians. We provide education and we take action for residents who still use sidewalks inappropriately," said Gatra when confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, August 3.

From the joint raids, dozens of carts and merchant stalls selling on the sidewalks were brought under control by 100 joint officers.

"Almost 70 merchants who use the sidewalks are brought under control. What we secure is bamboo waste and unused carts left by their owners, we will secure them," he explained.

Gatra emphasized that in principle, traders are not prohibited from selling in the Senen area. However, the places (locations) to trade are prohibited (on roads and sidewalks).

"If they don't comply with the provisions, we give warnings to take action. But if they do trade in their place, go ahead. If it's on the sidewalk, of course not, the proof is that we took action on the carts and chairs," he said.

Later, a number of confiscated items will be disposed of and secured as evidence of the control results.
