MEDAN - Medan City Government together with the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) will take various steps and efforts to deal with the problem of extreme poverty in Medan Belawan sub-district.
There are three sub-districts that are of special concern to the Medan City Government at this time, namely Belawan Bahari Village, Belawan Happy Village, and Bagan Deli Village because they are considered to be locations for underprivileged communities.

The meeting in the framework of this working visit is to discuss a number of problems that occurred in the northernmost area of Medan City. Other sectors were also discussed, including regional planning, education, health, environmental hygiene, and increasing people's income, and tidal flood prevention.
To Muhadjir Effendy, Bobby Nasution said the Medan City Government was slowly trying to deal with community problems in Medan Belawan, one of which was through a house renovation program that was recently reviewed by President Joko Widodo.

So, what we convey today to the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture is a manifestation of the wishes and voices of the people that we have summarized. The husband of the Chairman of the Medan City PKK TP Kahiyang Ayu, wants extreme poverty alleviation not only to be carried out in the form of regional planning, but also to be encouraged by increasing human resources so that in the future it can actually lift people out of poverty permanently.
“I want the areas included in the data collection to be equipped with educational facilities, Mr. Minister. So, our children there can go to school and get a proper education. We improve our human resources, we help the economy through assistance and training to the wives of fishermen there," he explained.
Bobby Nasution admitted that he needed special approaches at several locations.
"The conditions are different, but there is an approach that must be done massively," he said accompanied by a number of related OPD leaders in the Medan City Government.
For the collaboration that was built, Bobby Nasution thanked the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture and hoped that the extreme poverty alleviation program in the Medan Belawan area could be started soon.
"Hopefully our efforts can bring, create and improve the welfare of the people of Medan City, especially in Medan Belawan," he hoped.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy revealed that the handling of extreme poverty was carried out on the basis of Presidential Instruction (Inpres) No. 4 of 2022 concerning the Acceleration of the Elimination of Extreme Poverty. So, people don't need to go all the way to the hospital for checkups, this is our effort to prevent stunting," said Muhadjir.
According to Muhadjir, if the detailed data and problems can be resolved by the end of this month, the work on the extreme poverty alleviation program can begin immediately.
"We hope that by the end of the year the progress can reach 40 percent. Later we will communicate with other ministries to deal with existing social problems. In addition, we will also discuss the level of security with the relevant institutions considering that the area is in the port area," he concluded.
