MAKASSAR - Chairman of the Makassar Entertainment Business Association (AUHM) Zulkarnain Ali Naru said entertainment venues in Makassar, South Sulawesi, will be closed for one day to commemorate the Islamic New Year.

"The Islamic New Year will fall on Saturday (30/7) and in order to appreciate the Islamic New Year, all entertainment venues in Makassar will be closed for a day," he said in Makassar as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 28.

He said, in connection with the Islamic Year of 1444 Hijrah which coincided on Saturday, all entertainment businesses in Makassar City were required to close their business for a day, including entertainment activities in hotels.

According to him, the closure is in accordance with the Makassar City Regulation Number 5 of 2011 and its confirmation through the Makassar Mayor's Circular Number 556/317/S.Edar/Dispar/VII/2022.

"For this, we urge all entrepreneurs and entertainment business managers to comply with the closure. On the other hand, we also hope that the Tourism Office team together with the Satpol PP can carry out supervision regarding the closure," he said.

He also hopes that all entertainment businesses in Makassar can obey and comply with these rules.

"We hope that all business friends can obey and comply with the closing rules that have been set based on the Regional Regulation and SE Mayor of Makassar," said Zulkarnain Ali Naru.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Makassar City Tourism Office, Muhammad Roem, who was contacted separately said that the closure in connection with the Islamic New Year was in accordance with Regional Regulation Number 5 of 2011.

"For supervision, our team will obviously go down to monitor and take firm action if there are businesses that try to violate the rules of the game that have been set in the regulation. Including entertainment activities that exist in hotel businesses and the like," said Roem.
