JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo encourages strict law enforcement for perpetrators of violence against children, be it sexual, physical, verbal or bullying.

This was conveyed by the Head of State in response to a number of cases of violence against children in various forms in several regions recently.

"I think strict law enforcement, strict law enforcement, it is the responsibility of all of us to fence off so that it doesn't happen again," said Jokowi as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, July 23.

Jokowi said that anyone who perpetrates violence against children must be processed according to the existing rules so that there are no more cases of violence against children in any form.

"I think everything is processed, anyone, there is no such thing as verbal violence, there is no such thing as bullying, there is no such thing as physical violence, sexual violence, everything. Because the rules are not allowed and there are criminal penalties," he said.

Meanwhile, with regard to the commemoration of National Children's Day 2022, Jokowi conveyed a message that adults should not impose their desires on children too much.

According to him, children should be allowed to be active and creative in their world.

"I like to see happy children with various creativity, by showing their activities. I think that's actually the world of children. Don't force children too much to conform to the wishes of adults because children are children. Their world is the world of children," he said.
