SLEMAN - The Department of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries (DP3) of Sleman Regency said that there was an increase in the number of sacrificial animals slaughtered at the celebration of Eid al-Adha 1443 Hijri or 2022 AD in its territory.

"This year there has been an increase in the number of sacrificial animals slaughtered by 7,149 heads compared to last year," said Head of the Sleman Regency DP3 Suparmono in Sleman, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), Thursday, July 14.

According to him, the increase in the number of sacrificial animals that were slaughtered was due to the end of the COVID-19 pandemic and the increasing awareness of the public to sacrifice.

"In addition, it is also due to the increased monitoring of officers to the point of slaughtering cattle and the increasing active role of the sacrificial committee," he said, according to Antara.

He said that this year, 24,825 animals were slaughtered, including 10,037 cows, 2,413 goats and 12,375 sheep.

"This year there was also a finding of an increase in cases of Fasciola (liver worms) in slaughtered cattle," he said.

Suparmono said the increase in liver fluke findings was due to more cutting points that could be monitored by officers (not all were monitored during the pandemic).

"This increase in findings is also due to the success of socializing the slaughter of sacrificial animals to the mosque takmir or the sacrificial committee, so that they understand healthy animals," he added.

He said, for monitoring the cutting point this year there was also an increase. This year there are 230 points for monitoring livestock slaughter, the number of officers involved in monitoring livestock slaughtering has also increased.

"The qurbani Shohibul has also increased and the qurbani committee has an active role in reporting that there are slaughtering activities in their area," he said.
