PKS Legislator: Eid So Momentum Sharing, Especially In A Pandemic Period

JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX of the DPR RI from the PKS faction, Netty Prasetiyani Aher, reminded the public to make Eid al-Adha a momentum to share and care about the people in need.

"Moreover, during the COVID-19 pandemic, there are many people whose income has decreased or disappeared, making it difficult to buy meat as a source of nutritious intake," said Netty PrasetiyaniAher to reporters, Monday, July 11.

"Geting healthy sacrificial meat, high in protein and given with sincerity and love is certainly happy for the recipients," he continued. According to the chairman of the PKS DPP, the procession of sacrifice as a religious teaching has proven to have a real economic and social impact. Netty said, the traders of sacrificial animals can be helped because their merchandise is sold.

"And people also get high-protein foods for free," he continued.

The West Java electoral district PKS legislator said that the fulfillment of high protein foods is very much needed by the community, especially prospective mothers and toddlers. "If nutrition is met, of course, it will correlate with a decrease in stunting rates that are still problematic," he said.

Nevertheless, the Deputy Chairperson of the FPKS of the DPR RI asked the government to supervise the sacrificial animals and slaughter them for 3 days of tasyrik. Netty assessed that the government must mitigate the possible negative impacts and ensure that sacrificial animals are healthy and fit for public consumption.

"Do an examination so that the slaughtered sacrificial animals are free from the outbreak of Feet Disease (PMK). The PMK Task Force must often check directly in the field, such as mosques, RPHs and others," said Netty.

Netty also asked the public to participate in preventing the PMK outbreak and other diseases. The public, he said, must be open and report to the Task Force if there are animals that are not in good health.

"The MUI fatwa only allows animals with mild symptoms. Don't force them to slaughter sacrificial animals with severe symptoms. We must not risk public health because we consume playful animals," he said.
