PASURUAN - Deputy Chair of the East Java DPRD, Anwar Sadad, asked the East Java Provincial Government to maximize the use of unexpected spending (BTT) for handling mouth and nail disease outbreaks in livestock.

"After the legal umbrella for the use of BTT will be in place, the provincial government must clearly determine how to distribute it, including optimization so that it is right on target," he said while accompanying the Acting Governor of East Java, Emil Elestianto Dardak, to review the dairy farm in Tutur District, Pasuruan Regency, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 6th.

Anwar Sadad also appreciated the fast movement of the provincial government who immediately came to the location of the farm so that they knew the condition of the breeders who were currently experiencing difficulties due to the FMD outbreak.

According to him, the use of BTT funds will not only be used to buy livestock medicine, but also as compensation to farmers whose cows died due to PMK.

"Because they live from livestock. For example, dairy cows, if a cow gets sick, or even dies, it doesn't produce and farmers don't get income," said the Chairperson of the East Java Gerindra DPD.

Gus Sadad, as he is familiarly called, asked the East Java Provincial Government to continue to monitor it thoroughly, especially in areas that have become "red zones" for the FMD outbreak.

"The presence of the provincial government at the farm location makes farmers not alone. Hopefully all parties can oversee it completely and this epidemic will end soon," he said.

Anwar Sadad also appealed to breeders to immediately report and inform officers if their livestock are indicated and have symptoms of FMD.

This, he said, is important to do to prevent livestock from getting worse.

"Based on information from veterinarians, if it is detected early, the recovery period can be 3-4 days. If it is late, it will be longer. We hope for the role and synergy of all parties," he said.

Meanwhile, the provincial government guarantees assistance or compensation for breeders whose animals are sick or even die due to FMD.

East Java Acting Governor Emil Elestianto Dardak conveyed that the budget shift from the BTT budget for handling FMD outbreaks in livestock in the form of medicines and compensation would be carried out pending the central government's decision through the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 32 of 2022.

"Inmendagri becomes a comprehensive basis in handling emergency PMK. Not only answering BTT, but all things that must be done by local governments in responding to the development of this disease," said Emil Dardak.

The East Java Provincial Government, he continued, did not want to be careless because there are still policies at the national and provincial levels that want to ensure the concept so that the compensation direction is clear.
