JAKARTA - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said the West continued to send weapons supplies to Ukraine, while about 170 mercenaries had been killed in the fighting over the past ten days.

"Hoping to drag the conflict in Ukraine, the collective West continues to deliver large-scale arms supplies to the Kiev regime," he explained, as reported by TASS July 5.

Shoigu further explained, more than 28,000 tons of military cargo had been sent to Ukraine. But he also said some weapons supplied by the West to the Kiev regime strayed into the Middle East and the black market.

"According to available information, some of the foreign weapons sent by the West to Ukraine are scattered in the Middle East region and also enter the black market," he said.

It is known, the United States is one of the countries that provide military assistance to Kiev. Washington has channeled about $6.9 billion in military aid since the start of Russia's special military operations in Ukraine in February, totaling about $8.8 billion since 2014.

Most recently, US President Joe Biden announced that Washington would come up with another military aid package for Ukraine in the coming days on June 30, with a value said to be more than $800 million.

On the same occasion, Minister Shoigu said about 170 mercenaries had died in the last 10 days on the Ukrainian battlefield, with dozens more choosing to flee.

"A total of 170 mercenaries were killed and 99 others refused to take part in military activities and left Ukraine in the last ten days," he explained.

He added, "successful attacks by the Russian army and the forces of the people's republic have reduced the number of foreign mercenaries and fighters from private military companies active in the country."
