JAKARTA - The former Secretary of the Ministry of SOEs, Muhammad Said Didu, does not agree with the issue that presidential candidates must be party members or cadres. The appeal is said to be being widely discussed by members of the DPR.

Said said professionals and other figures also have the right to be nominated or elected in the 2024 Presidential Election.

Feeling irritated by the proposal, Said said why not all positions in the cabinet were headed by a party cadre.

"Let's just say that a presidential candidate is only the head of a political party and all officials must be members of a political party," Said said on his Twitter account, @msaid_didu, Monday, July 4.

According to Said, the proposal does not make sense. Because all have the right to nominate and be nominated in accordance with the general election rules that have been set.

"It seems that the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia has been directed to be managed like a communist country," said Didu.

Previously, PKS Secretary General Habib Aboebakar Alhabsyi revealed that members of the DPR are currently discussing candidates for the 2024 presidential election. Members of the DPR discuss that presidential candidates should not be from outside the party or not cadres.

Aboebakar first mentioned a number of candidates who are expected to run for the 2024 presidential election. Among them are PKB General Chair Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, to DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

"Muhaimin is part of the candidate, it's okay. Anies is part of the candidate. Ganjar is also part of the candidate. But there is something interesting: the DPR is still having a vote [calling for] this, there is no candidate who is not from a political party. Now, this is dangerous, this is exciting, It's warm," said Aboebakar, quoted from the YouTube channel Refly Harun.
