53-Year-Old Man In Pamulang Arrested After Car Damage Using Slingshot, Police: Perpetrators Are Annoyed By Vehicle Noise

TANGSEL – A car driver on Jalan Pajajaran, Pamulang, South Tangerang became a victim of vandalism. The car he was driving was targeted by a man using a slingshot. After an investigation, the perpetrator with the initials AS was arrested.

AS, a 53-year-old man, was arrested on Thursday, June 30. The arrest was made after the police received a report from the victim, A (26) at the Pamulang Police Station.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for Pamulang Police, AKP Erwin Subekti, explained that the victim experienced the incident when he was crossing Jalan Pajajaran from Ciputat.

"The complainant was on his way from Ciputat to Pamulang. Then, while crossing Jalan Pajajaran, the victim heard the sound of a car body hitting a rock," Erwin said to the media crew, Sunday, June 3.

The victim, continued Erwin, continued his journey. By the time they got home, continued Erwin, the victim saw a dent in the left side of the car. Erwin said the victim thought his car was dented by throwing stones.

"The victim saw that the left side of the car looked like it had been hit by a stone, so that the car body was dented and the paint was peeling off," said Erwin.

The victim then made a report to the Pamulang Police regarding the alleged car vandalism.

"The victim suffered a loss of 3 million, and he made a report to the Pamulang Police," he said.

At that time, the police immediately launched an investigation. On the same day, the US was arrested and proven guilty.

"At the time of observation, there was a person (US) suspected of carrying a slingshot. The perpetrator was then taken into custody," explained Erwin.

"After being secured, then the US was interrogated. At the time of interrogation, the perpetrator admitted his actions," he continued.

Erwin said that the motive for the perpetrator was because he was disturbed by the noise of the vehicle.

"US feels noisy with passing vehicles. Because of that he damaged the car using a slingshot," concluded Erwin.
