NTB - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) estimates that the dry season in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) will run normally.

According to the BMKG Forecast of the NTB Climatology Station, Dewo Sulistio Adi Wibowo, the forecast is based on rainfall on the third day of June 2022 in NTB which is almost entirely dominated by the low category.

"The chance of heavy rain in the NTB area is starting to decrease," said Dewo in a written statement in Praya, NTB, quoted from Antara, Friday, July 1.

The BMKG stated that the highest rainfall occurred in the Lenek Duren area, East Lombok, with a total rainfall of 65 mm/dasarian.

The nature of rain on the third basis of June 2022 in the NTB region is dominated by the below normal category on Sumbawa Island and varies from the Lower Normal (BN) to Upper Normal (AN) category on Lombok Island.

"Above Normal (AN) rainfall areas are located in northern Lombok and Bima," said Dewo.

Monitoring of consecutive non-rainy days (HTH) for the province of NTB is generally in the very short category (1-5 days) until there is still rain until updating.

The longest HTH was observed to have occurred in the Sape area, Bima district, for 28 days or in the long category.

Dewo explained, the latest 'Atmospheric Dynamics Conditions Update' shows the ENSO Index is in a Weak La Nina condition (ENSO index : -0.72).

The demo states that BMKG estimates that ENSO conditions will take place in the Neutral category in July-August-September 2022.

"Currently, the east wind is observed to dominate most of Indonesia, except for the northern to central Sumatra region and a small part of western Kalimantan," he said.

The Australian monsoon is still active and is predicted to continue to be active and dominate the entire territory of Indonesia. The MJO movement is currently not active in Indonesia.

The potential for increased cloud formation (OLR) in the area around NTB is predicted to continue until the end of June 2022.

"The average sea surface temperature anomaly around the NTB area is currently in the warm category, which is predicted to remain warm until October 2022," he said.

On the first basis of July 2022, rain with an intensity of > 20 mm/dasarian is predicted to still have the chance to occur in almost all areas of NTB with a 10 - 80 percent chance, namely in Mataram, West Lombok, parts of Central Lombok, a small part of East Lombok, West Sumbawa, parts of Sumbawa ,Dompu, part of Bima.

"There is still the potential for light rain in this dry season, people need to be aware of the potential for extreme weather such as strong winds that can cause trees to fall and so on," he concluded.
