KIB Will Declare Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidates This Year, PPP: Otherwise We Will Lose Momentum

JAKARTA - The United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) will declare presidential candidates (candidates) and vice presidential candidates (cawapres) for the 2024 presidential election.

This was revealed by the Chairperson of the PPP DPP, Syarifah Amelia, in response to the question of the candidate for the coalition president initiated by Golkar, PAN and PPP.

"Our hope is that this year will not pass because this year is also the momentum. But also don't rush because we are talking about internal solidity issues. This means that when it is declared we want that it is already guaranteed that all cadres at the grassroots support the same thing," he said. Amel after a discussion entitled 'Reading the Directions of the United Indonesia Coalition' in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Friday, June 24.

According to him, the strength of KIB is the direct conversion of party votes to the votes of the presidential and vice presidential candidates. So, said Amel, the most important thing is not to determine who the candidate is but to ensure that the party cadres from the branch to the central level are all ready for samina wa athona with the above decision.

"Of course this is not a one-way process, going back and forth. From us to offer, they then give back aspirations, criteria and so on. So when we carry it out, it is correct, that what is being carried is a cawapres candidate who meets the criteria of PPP cadres. in this case," explained Amel.

"Of course PPP has specific detailed criteria that we have to make sure that the vice presidential candidate will make the same thing," he continued.

Regarding whether PPP General Chair Suharso Monoarfa will become vice presidential candidate, Amel said that his party does not set a fixed price for any position. However, he said, PPP is ready to become vice presidential candidate in 2024.

"Of course we are very ready to encourage our cadres. Becoming president is also very ready," he said.

Amel also reiterated that KIB will declare party decisions regarding the names of presidential and vice presidential candidates this year. However, he could not confirm what month the declaration was. "Yes this year. Because otherwise we will lose momentum," he said.

Amel also denied that KIB was a boat to carry Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo. Because he said, KIB will prioritize internal cadres from Golkar, PPP or PAN.

"Of course it's not true. Because in the first place, our pride is to support internal cadres. We have our own best cadres, both from PPP, Golkar, PAN," said Amel.

Moreover, he added, PDIP has already stated that its party cadres are not to be carried by other political parties. So that both PDIP and KIB have closed Ganjar's name.

"Then also some time ago PDIP confirmed that its cadres did not open the door to be carried by other coalitions or parties, so this is the answer from both parties that has closed the door for that," he said.
