BANDA ACEH - Panglima Laot said the Thai maritime security authorities had reportedly arrested 11 fishermen from East Aceh Regency for entering the country's territory without permission.

"Based on the information we received, 11 fishermen from East Aceh were arrested by Thai security forces," said Panglima Laot Idi Cut, Herman, in East Aceh as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 22.

The 11 fishermen were crew members of the KM Boat Nakri. The motor boat was caught in the sea waters of Phuket, Thailand on Saturday (18/6). Previously, they departed from Kuala Idi Cut on Sunday (12/6).

The names of the fishermen, said Herman, are not yet known. They go to sea without leaving any letters such as letters of operation worthiness (SLO) and others.

"SLO is a certificate stating that the ship meets the administrative and feasibility requirements to carry out fishing activities," said Herman.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Water Police Unit of the East Aceh Police, Iptu Zainurusydi, said that the fishing boat and its crew from East Aceh Regency were arrested in Thailand.

"They were arrested for violating the territorial waters boundary. As a result of our coordination, the ship left the Kuala Idi Cut estuary, not from the Nusantara Idi Fisheries Port," said Iptu Zainurusydi.

Iptu Zainurusydi said the fishing boat was not equipped with documents such as a sailing permit, a fishing license, making it difficult to know who the captured crew members were.

"However, we are still trying to find any crew members who were arrested in Thailand. This includes coordinating with Panglima Laot and the ship's owner," said Iptu Zainurrusydi.
