JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno believes that tourist villages are increasingly popular after the pandemic is over, along with changes in travel preference trends amid COVID-19.

"We believe that the Tourism Village will become a 'pandemic winner' from the tourism sector," said Sandiaga, Tuesday, June 21.

He said that post-COVID-19 tourists are more oriented towards tourist attractions that are more personalized, customized, localized, and smaller in size. Sandiaga noted that there was an increase in visits to tourist villages during 2021.

According to Sandiaga, the development of tourist villages is also supported from the aspect of local accommodation or homestays whose role is to provide a pleasant experience for tourists. The factors of cleanliness and comfort are also a priority that must be provided by homestay owners who are dominated by local residents.

The participation of all parties is needed, including the community in the local area by participating in maintaining cleanliness and environmental sustainability in tourist villages.

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy collaborates with a number of private parties in an effort to create a Clean, Healthy, Safe, and Sustainable Tourism Village.

"We really appreciate the efforts of the private sector through this Synergistic Collaboration by supporting the development of Tourism Villages in terms of health and environmental cleanliness which of course is in accordance with the situation and needs needed by tourist villages so that the tourism sector can revive and grow."

Henky Hotma Parlindungan Manurung, Deputy for Industry and Investment at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, appreciated the efforts of companies in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to participate in realizing a Clean, Healthy, Safe, and Sustainable Tourism Village.

Henky hopes this collaboration can help improve the cleanliness factor in every homestay and become a new standard so that the homestay is cleaner and more comfortable.

"The tourist village is growing and of course it will be followed by the potential for increasing economic income for local residents who own homestays and the wider community in the tourist village," said Henky.
