Beat Dubrovnik To Honolulu, Dubai Becomes The Best Beach City For Vacation

JAKARTA - Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been named the world's best beach city in a study by Compare the Market.

The price comparison site reveals, Dubai seems to be a 'skyscraper', being at the top with the main combination of city and beach.

Home to stately resorts, luxury shopping, high-end restaurants and some pristine coastlines, the city scored 8.13 out of a maximum of 10 in the study.

The emirate ranked first for the average annual temperature, which hovers around 27 degrees, although the researchers noted that "at the height of summer, it may even be too hot".

The super-low average annual rainfall of less than 160 millimeters also means tourists visiting Dubai are less likely to get caught in the rain, reports The National News May 26.

Not only that, Dubai City also has a lot to do with more than 3,315 activities and more than 12,000 restaurants.

Meanwhile, the second place for the world's best beach city is fiercely contested between Dubrovnik of Croatia and Valencia of Spain.

The Adriatic City, which was the location of Kings Landing in the hit TV show Game of Thrones, topped the study for having the most things to see and do and the highest number of restaurants per 100,000 people.

Spain's third-largest city scored highly overall with top results as a safe place to visit and low average annual rainfall.

Researchers at Compare the Market analyzed 35 coastal cities around the world using TripAdvisor ratings, Instagram hashtags, weather reports and safety ratings from crowdsourced data platform Numbeo.

Valencia is not the only city in Spain on the list, with four of the top 10 cities belonging to a Mediterranean paradise, as Alicante, Palma De Mallorca and Barcelona also make the list.

Next, there are neighbors Spain, Portugal which places its representatives Funchal Madeira in ninth place, Honolulu (United States) and Limassol Cyprus complete the list.

Separately, Dubai has also celebrated Google's travel news. The city's Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, was named the most-viewed building on Google Street View by a technology company, followed by India's Taj Mahal and Paris' Eiffel Tower.

With an overall score of 4.5 out of 7, Emirates is also the highest ranked in the world for best airports and air transport. The UAE scores highly for its smart service and reputation as a safe place for tourists to visit.

In addition to leading the Mena rankings, the UAE is ranked 25th globally, up one place when compared to the equivalent study in 2019.
