PALANGKA RAYA - Director of the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) of Palangka Raya City, Central Kalimantan Province, Abram Sidi Winasis, said that for the past two months there were no COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment at the hospital.

"For the past two months, the COVID-19 BOR (Bed Occupancy Rate) occupancy rate at the Palangka Raya City Hospital has been zero. This means that we have no patients treated," Abram said, quoted by Antara, Friday, June 17.

He explained that this condition occurred as the number of COVID-19 cases in the city continued to decline. What's more, some patients also experience only mild symptoms and are self-isolating.

"It could be that some COVID-19 patients are undergoing treatment at other hospitals in Palangka Raya City," Abram said.

However, he continued, the Palangka Raya City Hospital is also still alerting five isolation rooms that can be used if there are COVID-19 patients who require further treatment.

"In essence, we are ready to adjust any conditions. However, I still ask people who meet the criteria to follow all stages of the vaccine to increase immunity from exposure to COVID-19," he said.

Meanwhile, based on data from the Palangka Raya City COVID-19 Handling Task Force, as of Thursday (16/6) the accumulation of patients infected with the corona virus reached 17,773 people.

Of that number, 17,212 were declared cured, 550 patients died and the remaining 11 were still undergoing treatment.

The Mayor of Palangka Raya, Fairid Naparin, emphasized that currently the handling of COVID-19 in his area is under control. However, the public is advised to remain vigilant because of the emergence of new variants.

He said the peak of the BA.4-BA.5 variant wave was predicted to be reached one month after the discovery of the first case, namely in the second-third week of July.

"Efforts to booster vaccination continue to be encouraged to increase the immunity or immunity of the community. Stay alert and it is recommended to use a mask when doing outdoor activities with crowded crowds or indoors," he said.
