PALANGKA RAYA - Central Kalimantan Provincial DPRD member Lohing Simon expressed concern about the condition of the Palangka Raya-Kuala Kurun road section, Gunung Mas Regency which was again damaged due to the high activity of transport vehicles exceeding the specified capacity.

"The provincial government through related agencies has actually made maximum efforts to handle and repair the Palangka Raya-Kurun road section," said Lohing in Palangka Raya, Friday, June 17.

"From our observation, many vehicles exceed their loads which make roads and bridges damaged quickly. This condition must be a serious concern for the government," he said, quoted by Antara.

According to the representatives of the people of Central Kalimantan from the constituencies of Palangka Raya City, Gunung Mas, and Katingan Regencies, if the transport vehicles exceed capacity, the provincial government will be unable to provide the budget for repairs.

He also suggested that supervision of the Palangka Raya-Kurun road section be further improved, so that vehicles carrying more than capacity do not continue to occur. This is because the local government's handling of these roads is extraordinary, but they always suffer damage due to vehicles exceeding their capacity.

"We agree that the damage to the Palangka Raya-Kurun road is a serious problem that must be handled immediately. But, most importantly, prevention efforts so that the road does not get damaged again, need serious attention from the local government," said Lohing.

Members of the PDIP faction of the Central Kalimantan DPRD admit that currently many people have complained and are restless due to the damage to the road segment. In addition, there are often long queues of vehicles due to road damage.

"We from the DPRD together with the provincial government have indeed and remain committed to jointly finding the right solution to solving this problem. So, people who cross the road can be safe and comfortable," said Lohing.
