Satpol PP Admits Cannot Unload Beds In Gunung Antang, A Place For Prostitution And Gambling, Because It Stands On PT KAI's Land

JAKARTA - In the aftermath of acts of thuggery and attacks on residents of Rawa Bunga, the City Government (Pemkot) of East Jakarta has scheduled a meeting with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) related to controlling the localization of prostitution in Gunung Antang, Matraman.

East Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar said, Thursday, June 16, we and PT KAI will hold a meeting to reorganize the area because it belongs to PT KAI's assets.

Anwar said, his party could not immediately control the localization of Mount Antang, which is known as a place for prostitution and gambling.

The reason is because the illegal building stands on land owned by PT KAI. So, it must first coordinate with the BUMN that organizes rail transportation services.

"Yesterday I coordinated with the Resort Police Chief, with the Dandim, with the Kejari (State Attorney) as well as the court, in principle they all support being ready (to bring order), it's just that we invite the KAI, and we are asked, what do they want to do after the control and what program is there? ," Anwar told reporters on Thursday, June 16.

Meanwhile, PT KAI itself confirmed that it is currently coordinating with the East Jakarta City Government regarding controlling the localization of Mount Antang.

"Yes, that's right (there is coordination)," said Head of Public Relations of PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Eva Chairunisa.

Later, he said, the control would be carried out jointly with the City Government and related security forces.

"Yes, the control program will be carried out with the City Government and the authorities are currently in the coordination stage," he said.

Previously, it was reported that residents asked the government and officials to close the localization of Mount Antang, Matraman, due to the attack that occurred on Jalan Kemuning, RT 005 RW 001, Rawa Bunga Village, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta.

Head of RW 001 Rawa Bunga Dwi Lestari said residents expressed their desire during mediation with Gunung Antang at the East Jakarta Police Headquarters, Monday, June 13, yesterday.

"Requests from residents ask for the closure of the localization of prostitution and gambling in Gunung Antang. That's a request from the residents, it should be closed immediately," said Dwi when contacted, Tuesday, June 14.

Dwi said that not only the residents of Rawa Bunga objected to the localization of Mount Antang, but also the residents of Kayumanis and Pisangan. This is because the residents' settlements are close to the localization.

"Because we have talked about the residents of Kayumanis and Pisangan (Baru) which are located close to Mount Antang," said Dwi.

Dwi also explained, many residents asked about the existence of the localization of Mount Antang which is still operating today. He also asked the relevant parties to immediately take decisive steps to close the localization of prostitution.

"Because people ask a lot of questions, what's wrong with that localization that can't be closed? While other localizations can be closed. All of that (Kalijodo) can be closed, why can't Mount Antang be closed?," he asked in surprise.

Residents Terrorized

Residents of Rawa Bunga also received terror from a group of heavily armed thugs attacking residential areas in the Jatinegara area, East Jakarta.

At least four residents were victims of the wrong target of the beating on Jalan Kemuning, Dam, RT 05/01, Rawa Bunga Village, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta.

RH and SI were ganged up by the perpetrators blindly. According to information compiled by VOI, the incident began when RH, SI, SP and RK were buying nasi uduk at the scene on Sunday, June 12, at around 02.10 WIB.

Suddenly, a group of thugs came from the direction of the prostitution area of Gunung Antang, East Jakarta, who were looking for residents who were buying nasi uduk.

Then the victim was approached by the perpetrators. For no apparent reason, the perpetrator suddenly took out a sharp weapon and showered the victim with a machete. After assaulting a number of victims, the perpetrators fled.
