WEST PAPUA - The Governor of West Papua (Pj), Paulus Waterpauw, stated that the discipline of civil servants (PNS) towards their duties and responsibilities within the provincial government is still low and must be addressed.
This was conveyed by Paulus Waterpauw when he gave directions at today's rally. He asked West Papuan civil servants to be disciplined in practicing the Panca Prasetya Korpri as a guideline for carrying out their duties and responsibilities.
"Panca Prasetya Korpri is not a fairy tale, but an oath/promise of brothers and sisters for the trust of the state in the task of serving the people of West Papua", said Waterpauw as quoted by Antara.
Waterpauw stated that for 18 years serving in Papua as a law enforcement officer (Polri) until he was entrusted as Acting. As the current governor of West Papua, there is only one problem that must be addressed in the internal government bureaucracy.
"From my personal experience, there is only one thing that must be done, namely fixing the state administration in the regions because this is closely related to our speed and efforts to improve the welfare of the people", he said.
The success of development in the fields of education, health, and public welfare is not determined from outside but returns to the commitment to administering the state itself.
"Until today we have been given the authority and trust to process such a large budget, but if there is no cooperation and we are still lazy, the results will never be maximized and prolong the suffering of our own people", said Waterpauw.
He said that civil servants who were lazy to work were those who did not obey the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), Pancasila, and the 1945 Constitution, as stated in the first point of Panca Prasetya Korpri.

Waterpauw then ordered 48 leaders of regional apparatus organizations (OPD) within the West Papua Provincial Government to prepare employee attendance to be checked at each agency.
"The following Monday, I will check the attendance at 48 OPDs one by one. For diligent civil servants, their names must be circled (a special sign), while those who are lazy should not be marked", he said.
