Gunungguruh Police Chief Iptu Didin Waslidin

SUKABUMI - The Gunungguruh Police have dismissed a case over the death of a junior high school student after practicing pencak silat with his colleagues due to drowning in the Cipelang River, Sukabumi Regency, West Java.

"From the results of the examination of the pencak silat teacher from the Cadas Raga Pencak Silat College with the initials DA, there was no intentional element in the case of the death of Raitan (14) a student who was swept away by the Cipelang River," said Gunungguruh Police Chief Iptu Didin Waslidin quoted by Antara, Monday, May 30.

According to Didin, the results of the investigation conducted by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Gunungguruh Police on DA related to a river accident that resulted in one death being a pure accident.

To investigators, DA said the pencak silat training activity was carried out at the rice mill. However, after practicing, some of his students chose to swim in the Cipelang River, even though the DA had repeatedly forbade it for fear of something bad happening and urged them to go home or rest.

But sure enough, the DA's concerns were proven. Three of his students were carried away by the current of the Cipelang River, where two were rescued and one victim died from drowning and his body was only found by the joint SAR team a few hours after the incident.

Regarding the incident, DA was given dozens of questions from investigators and it was revealed that the accident that took the life of one student was not part of a series of silat training activities, but had ended.

Based on the results of the investigation and the crime scene (TKP) as well as examination, the police did not find any intentional factors or orders from the DA for his students to swim in the Cipelang River so that this case was not continued or closed.

The termination of the legal case of the death of a fighter after training was also strengthened by the victim's family, who refused to conduct an autopsy on Raitan's body and considered this incident to be a pure accident or accident.

"The termination of the legal process is also a request from the victim's family who asked us not to continue the case," he added.

In addition, Didin appealed to the public not to be provoked and consumed by hoax issues that could lead to vigilante action related to the case. He also asked residents to entrust it to law enforcement officials.

Previously, 11 fighters who were students after practicing chose to bathe and swim in the Cipelang River on Sunday (29/5) at around 12.11 WIB. Three of the 11 fighters, namely i Elsa (13) and Parli (14) residents of Babakan Cimenteng, Gunungguruh Village, Sukabumi Regency and Raitan (14) residents of Joglo Village, Cikundul Village, Sukabumi City were dragged by the river.

Two victims, namely Elsa and Parli, were rescued and immediately taken to Al-Mulk Hospital for treatment. However. Raitan's life was not saved after drowning and his body was only found a few hours later.
