ACEH - The Mata Ie pool bathing attraction, Darul Imarah sub-district, Aceh Besar district has started to dry up due to the long dry season that has hit the area since the last two months.

"We have just seen the report from PDAM (regional drinking water company), this week it is starting to dry out," said Head of BPBD Aceh Besar Ridwan Jamil, in Aceh Besar, Antara, Monday, May 23.

Ridwan said that the dryness of the pool, which is a tourist attraction for freshwater baths, was due to the current dry season, especially since the Aceh Besar area had not had heavy rains for a long time.

"Meanwhile, because of the dry season, even if there are other problems, it is necessary to study again what the causes are," he said.

From several places in the bathing tourist complex, there are pools that are completely dry, only rocks can be seen. While the main pool is still partially watery.

Ridwan said that this drought had not yet reached residents' settlements, so that people could still enjoy clean water that was supplied by PDAM from water sources in the pool area.

Ridwan said, if later this drought reaches community settlements, anticipatory steps will be taken such as supplying clean water and other technical matters in coordination with the local PDAM.

"So far it is still safe, only the pond is dry, the pond is also one of the water sources for PDAM Aceh Besar," said Ridwan Jamil.

Meanwhile, Head of BMKG Aceh Besar Data and Information Zakaria Ahmad stated that Aceh is currently entering the dry season, although a small part of it has been raining.

"Aceh as a whole has entered the dry season, except in areas that do not recognize seasons, such as in the south west region of Aceh," said Zakaria.

According to BMKG, Zakaria continued, Aceh will be hit by a dry season until next August. However, in the midst of that there will also be several times of rain.

"Our current air temperature is around 34 to 35 degrees Celsius during the day, at night the temperature is 28 degrees, and it's already hot, usually at night it's only 22-23 degrees Celsius," said Zakaria.
