Prosecutor Demands Three Years In Prison

MATARAM - Prosecutors have demanded that the defendant in corruption of fictitious credit at the Godo Pegadaian Branch Service Unit (UPC), Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, Siti Nurdahlia, be sentenced to three years in prison.

"Demanding the Panel of Judges to impose a prison sentence on the defendant Siti Nurdahlia for three years in prison," said Public Prosecutor Edy Setiawan before the Panel of Judges at the Mataram Corruption Crime District Court, reported by Antara, Monday, May 23.

In the prosecution, the prosecutor requested that the Panel of Judges led by Irlina also impose a fine of IDR 50 million, subsidiary of three months in prison.

The prosecutor also asked the Panel of Judges to charge Siti Nurdahlia to pay compensation for state losses of Rp. 624.37 million, the remaining findings from the Internal Control System (SPI) of Pegadaian of Rp. 730 million, which had not been paid.

"If it is not replaced within one month after the decision is final and binding, the defendant's assets will be confiscated to pay for state losses.

Prosecutors set such demands in accordance with the facts revealed in the trial. The prosecutor stated that the defendant was actively involved in disbursing fictitious loans on behalf of 25 pawnshop customers. The mode of disbursement of fictitious loans by Siti Nurdahlia as the Head of UPC Godo Pawnshop in 2018, was revealed from the results of the examination of the financial cash report which was paired with the document proof of credit. The pawned goods are not visible, but the credit is still disbursed.

On the basis of the facts revealed, the prosecutor made such a claim by referring to Article 3 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20/2001 concerning Amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31/1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.

After hearing the demands, the defendant Siti Nurdahlia through her legal advisor stated that she would respond through a memorandum of defense. This will also be presented at a follow-up hearing next week as determined by the judge at the end of the trial.

"We have given the defendant one week to prepare a pledoi (defence note)," said Irlina.
