MANOKWARI - Acting Governor of West Papua Paulus Waterpauw said cases of stunting in children in the province needed serious attention.

"Therefore, the risk factor or prevalence of stunting in West Papua will be one of our priority agendas to lead the transitional government," said Paulus Waterpauw in Manokwari, as reported by Antara, Saturday, May 22.

In this short period of government transition, he said, his party is trying to make real interventions in the health sector to reduce stunting, which is quite alarming.

He invited all parties to be responsible for the health and education of children in West Papua Province, especially children's health-related to stunting cases which were quite high in the midst of development progress and within the framework of Special Autonomy (Otsus).

"There must be joint efforts and solutions to reduce stunting cases in West Papua. The health of children who are free from stunting is the real face of the government's presence," said Waterpauw.
