SUKABUMI - Limousine cattle from Cianjur which were transported using pickup trucks for consumers in Sukabumi were detained by the police. The cow was not allowed to enter Sukabumi because it did not have complete documents.

Sukalarang Police Chief, Commissioner Adjutant Asep Jenal Abidin said the police enforced strict rules considering the outbreak of mouth and nail disease in animals.

"We were forced to detain a limousine cow that was transported by a pickup because it was not equipped with an animal health certificate from the agency related to where the cow came from," said Asep in Sukabumi on Saturday, May 21.

Based on the Antara report, the police and the Sukabumi District and City Livestock Services (Disnak) were detained on the Cianjur-Sukabumi Highway.

The truck carrying cattle weighing up to hundreds of kilograms was directed to the Sukalarang Police Security Post after the driver was unable to show an animal health certificate.

A moment later, officials from the Sukabumi District Manpower Office conducted an examination of the limousine cattle.

"For the time being, we are holding the cows at the Sukalarang Pospam for health checks and the pick-up vehicle is asked to return to its original delivery point, namely to Cianjur," he said.

Meanwhile, the Sukabumi City Police Chief, Grand Commissioner Adjutant SY Zainal Abidin, added that his party, in collaboration with related agencies, had placed personnel in border areas to monitor the distribution of livestock.

Although, until now cases of foot and mouth disease have not been found in the jurisdiction of the Sukabumi City Police, residents, especially livestock business actors, are advised to be vigilant and the public does not need to panic.
