Regent Ensures Livestock In Temanggung Free Of PMK

TEMANGGUNG - The Regent of Temanggung M Al Khadziq confirmed that the case of foot and mouth disease (PMK) in livestock has not been confirmed in his area.

"Until today, no prominent cases of PMK have been found and we hope that the PMK case does not reach Temanggung," he said in Temanggung, Central Java, quoted from Antara, Thursday, May 19.

He said the Department of Food Security, Agriculture and Fisheries of Temanggung Regency continued to carry out intensive monitoring and socialization of PMK to the community, especially breeders.

In addition, he said, the Department of Food Security, Agriculture and Fisheries has also set up posts in existing animal markets to prevent FMD from entering livestock in Temanggung Regency, because this disease is very detrimental to breeders.

He appealed to breeders to always follow directions from the Temanggung Regency Food Security, Agriculture and Fisheries Service officers who were in the field.

Previously, the Head of the Food Security, Agriculture and Fisheries Service of Temanggung Regency Joko Budi Nuryanto conveyed that one of the efforts to prevent the entry of PMK into Temanggung was not to accept livestock from outside the area without being accompanied by an animal health certificate (SKKH).

"Without SKKH, livestock such as cows, buffalo, goats and sheep are not allowed to enter Temanggung," he said.

He said that FMD is indeed a disease in animals that cannot be transmitted to humans, it's just that the transmission of this disease to livestock is very fast. "Therefore, preventive measures must be carried out quickly," he concluded.
