JAKARTA - Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas left for Saudi Arabia, Wednesday morning to ensure that the services to be provided to pilgrims are ready.

"Early this morning, I left for Saudi Arabia. This is the first departure for pilgrims after a two-year delay due to the pandemic. I want to make sure all services for pilgrims are ready," said the Minister of Religion at Soekarno - Hatta Airport, Cengkareng, Tangerang, Banten, quoted by Antara, Wednesday 18 May.

In a written statement, the Minister of Religion visited Saudi Arabia accompanied by the Director-General of Hajj and Umrah Organization (PHU) Hilman Latief, Director of Foreign Hajj Services Subhan Cholid, as well as special staff and experts.

"We will check the readiness of catering services, transportation, accommodation, health services, and others. The point is that pilgrims must be served as well as possible," said Minister of Religion Yaqut.

Previously, the Minister of Religion at the opening of the Technical Guidance for Hajj Organizing Officers (PPIH) in Saudi Arabia in 1443H/2022M at the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory, Jakarta, Tuesday, May 17, emphasized the Hajj officers serve the pilgrims well.

The Minister of Religion asked that three aspects of the Hajj organization, namely coaching, service, and protection of pilgrims, must be adhered to.

Meanwhile, Director General of PHU Hilman Latief said the service procurement process in Saudi Arabia had been going on for the last two months. The Ministry of Religion team has completed the entire process up to the cooperation contract stage.

"We will do a final check, to make sure that once the pilgrims arrive in Saudi, the service can be enjoyed by them," said Hilman Latief.

This year's quota for Indonesian Hajj is 100,051 pilgrims, consisting of 92,825 quotas for regular pilgrims and 7,226 quotas for special pilgrims.

"The pilgrims have started flying to Saudi on June 4, 2022. So, all services must be ensured that everything is ready," said Hilman.
