MEULABOH - Secretary of the Indonesian Central Pungli Saber Task Force Inspector General Pol Agung Makbul said that until May 2022, 323 regents/mayors in Indonesia had been arrested and detained in connection with corruption.

“Lastly a week ago, Bogor Regent Ade Yasin. So that the total number of regional heads who stumble on corruption issues is 323 people," he said in Meulaboh, Tuesday, May 17 evening.

He made this statement when he met the invitation of the West Aceh Regent Ramli M.S. which was also attended by elements of the Forkompimda and West Aceh regional officials, at the local district head's office in Meulaboh.

Agung Makbul said that the government has been aggressively enforcing the Corruption Crime Act, and Saber Pungli has been aggressively pursuing it, but until now there are still regional heads who have stumbled upon legal cases due to corruption.

He also said that corruption and illegal levies damage the joints of people's lives in the nation and state.

In order to prevent regional heads or government administrators in the country from avoiding corrupt practices and illegal fees, the Central Saber Extortion Task Force currently continues to carry out various education and outreach programs regarding Presidential Regulation Number 87 of 2016 concerning Saber Extortion.

"The saber of extortion is the controller and the person in charge of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, so at the invitation of the West Aceh Regent and with the permission of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, I came to West Aceh to provide education and socialization in West Aceh," he said as quoted by Antara.

The socialization carried out by his party was aimed at moving towards a corruption-free territorial integrity zone (WBK) and a clean bureaucratic service area (WBBM) in West Aceh Regency.

He hopes that with the socialization, public services in the area will carry out their duties in accordance with applicable regulations.
