India's Super Extreme Heat Makes Birds Fall From The Sky

JAKARTA - The heat wave in India could make the temperature in the country penetrate up to 49.2 degrees Celsius in some parts of the capital, New Delhi. And this is what makes birds fall to the ground and fall from the sky.

This is not a story in Indian movies. But this is reality.

Rescue teams in India's western state of Gujarat rushed to evacuate dozens of birds that were exhausted and dehydrated from falling from the sky as a heat wave swept across the city, Euro News reported Monday, May 16.

Doctors at the veterinary hospital run by the non-profit Jivdaya Charitable Trust in Ahmedabad said they had treated thousands of birds in recent weeks. And almost every day, rescue teams bring in dozens of birds like pigeons or kites every day.

Health officials in Gujarat have asked veterinary hospitals to set up special wards for heatstroke.

"This year is one of the worst in recent times. We have seen a 10 percent increase in the number of birds that need to be rescued," said Manoj Bhavsar, one of the rescue teams.

The government is also researching to speed up the entry of children to school so they can go home faster. So you can go to school earlier and outdoor activities can still be done.

India is also considering allowing students to wear cotton clothes in bright colors to reflect light. Including making sure teachers know the SOPs that are carried out when they find a student exposed to a heat wave.
