LUMAJANG - A total of 15 children who survived the eruption of Mount Semeru in Lumajang Regency, East Java, received educational scholarships. The scholarship is up to high school (SMA) level.

"We thank and appreciate all donors and volunteers, especially to JSIT (Integrated Islamic School Network) which has provided educational assistance up to high school level for 15 children who survived the eruption of Mount Semeru," said Deputy Regent of Lumajang Indah Amperawati in a release received in Jakarta. Scholarship assistance from the Indonesian Integrated Islamic School Network (JSIT) for children who survived the eruption of Mount Semeru was given to the Al Uswa Foundation in Pasirian Village, Pasirian District, Lumajang Regency.

"I am grateful that many communities from Sabang to Merauke, all of them have come to Lumajang to help. This makes the affected residents not lose heart, even though they are in a poor condition," he said.

"This assistance is our concern for all JSIT members throughout Indonesia for the survivors of the Semeru disaster, hopefully it can ease the burden of the impact of the Mount Semeru hot cloud disaster," he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Al Uswa Foundation, Lumajang Regency, Arif Wirdana, hopes that the scholarships provided will be a motivation and encouragement for children who have survived the eruption of Mount Semeru.
