Chief Justice Of The Constitutional Court Plans To Marry Jokowi's Sister, Mahfud MD: There Is No Violation Of Law Or Ethics

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD spoke about the marriage plans of the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) Anwar Usman with President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) sister, Idayati.

According to him, there is nothing wrong with the marriage plans between the two. This was conveyed after this news circulated and became the public spotlight.

Mahfud assessed that Anwar did not violate the rules if he later married Idayati. So, people don't need to argue further.

"There is no law violation or ethical violation of the Chief Justice's plan to get married," Mahfud said in a written statement to reporters, Wednesday, March 23.

He also emphasized that Anwar Usman must have integrity. This integrity, continued Mahfud, will not be affected even if he is married to President Jokowi's sister.

"Want to get married or not remarry, the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court must have integrity. What should be the problem is people who are not married but commit adultery," said the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court.

It was previously reported that the head of the Constitutional Court (MK) Anwar Usman was in the spotlight after it was reported that he would marry President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) second sister, Idayati.

The news was conveyed by the Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is also the eldest son of President Jokowi.

"You already know. Ask the person concerned, (the wedding schedule) I don't understand (don't know)," Gibran said in Solo, quoted from Antara, Monday, March 21.
