Head of the Denpasar Coastal and Marine Resources Management Center (BPSPL), Permana Yudiarso, said that his party received a report from the Kurma Asih Turtle Conservation group, Perancak Village, Jembrana Regency, Bali, regarding police efforts to thwart the smuggling of green turtles.

"And now all the turtles are at the Jembrana Police," said Yudiarso, Friday, February 18.

His party has coordinated with veterinarians to check the health of 9 green turtles.

"BPSPL Denpasar has coordinated with the Kurma Asih turtle conservation group in Perancak Village, Jembrana to accommodate all turtles for health checks and further steps after the veterinarian states they are healthy, they will be released immediately with the permission of the Jembrana Police Chief and investigators," he added.

Meanwhile, Jembrana Police Chief AKBP I Dewa Gde Juliana confirmed the attempt to thwart the smuggling of the nine turtles. However, the police are still investigating.
