JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will investigate the origin of the money for the purchase of a Mini Cooper car, which was given by the inactive Langkat Regent.

The investigation was carried out after a viral video emerged showing Terbit giving the car to his son, who had just turned 19.

"All the information we receive is either by the public or perhaps through the media, of course this is interesting information for investigators," said KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata to reporters, Thursday, January 27.

Alexander said that all the information that came in would be investigated further to clarify the alleged bribery committed by Terbit. Including, exploring where the money came from to buy the luxury car.

This step, continued Alexander, is important because Terbit is also an entrepreneur. So, this study is important to see whether the money used comes from bribery practices or is obtained from the source of the business.

"You will be asked, you know, where did you buy this Mini Cooper where the money came from, for example, right like that," he said.

"The regent of Langkat is also a businessman, then he has a large garden, right, that's how it is," added Alexander.

Not only that, the KPK will also compare the results of Published's income with the price of the car.

"If the money used to buy the car is from legal money and business results, we have to be fair too, right. In principle, everything must be clear from where the person concerned gets his wealth and for what purpose," said Alexander.

For information, a video recording of the birthday celebration of the Langkat Regent's son, Publishing the Warring Wind Plan, has been circulating on social media. As previously reported, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named the Regent of Langkat Publishing a Plan for Warring Angin as a suspect in bribery related to infrastructure projects. This decision was made after the anti-corruption commission held an OTT on Tuesday, January 18.

He was named along with four other suspects, namely the Village Head of Balai Kasih who is the brother of Terbit Plan, Iskandar PA; and three private persons or contractors, namely Marcos Surya Abdi, Shuhandra Citra, and Isfi Syahfitra. In this case, the KPK suspects that Terbit managed the implementation of the infrastructure work project package in Langkat Regency.

In addition, he also ordered his subordinates to actively coordinate with his brother, Iskandar, who was his representative to select the contractors who won the work packages at the PUPR Service and the Education Office.
