Series Of OTT KPK From Bekasi-Surabaya Expected To Have A Deterrent Effect

JAKARTA - The beginning of the year is a busy time for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). As of four times, this institution has carried out hand arrest operations (OTT) and ensnared three regional heads and a judge.

Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, hopes that the OTT held by his institution is expected to have a deterrent effect. All parties are asked to use the silent operation as a lesson to avoid corrupt practices.

"We hope this will not happen again. We hope that these arrests will provide a deterrent effect as well as a lesson to stop corruption," said Ghufron as quoted from the Indonesian KPK's YouTube.

Ghufron also hopes that no more corruptors will be arrested through OTT. "We hope this will not happen again," he said.

Not only that, he wants Indonesia to be free from riots. "(All parties, ed) to be deterrent and afraid to commit corruption so that Indonesia is truly free from corruption," said Ghufron.

At least, there have been four silent operations carried out by the KPK this month. Who are they?

First, on Wednesday, January 5, the KPK arrested the Mayor of Bekasi Rahmat Effendi or Pepen in the OTT. Furthermore, he was named a suspect in the alleged bribery of procurement of goods and services as well as the auction of positions in the Bekasi City Government.

In addition to Pepen, the KPK has also appointed the Secretary of the Bekasi City Investment Office and PTSP; Head of Kati Sari Village, Mulyadi alias Bayong; Jatisampurna Sub-district Head, Wahyudin; and Head of the Bekasi City Housing, Settlement and Land Office, Jumhana Lutfi as bribe recipients.

Meanwhile, the Director of PT MAM Energindo, Ali Amril; private company named Lai Bui Min; Director of PT Kota Bintang Rayatri, Suryadi; and the sub-district head of Rawa Lumbu, Makhfud Saifudin, was named the bribe giver.

Second, the Regent of North Penajam Paser Abdul Gafur Mas'ud was arrested during a silent operation that was held on Wednesday, January 12. He was named a suspect in the alleged bribery of procuring goods and services as well as processing permits.

Apart from Abdul Gafur, the anti-corruption commission also appointed the Acting Secretary of the North Penajam Paser Regency, Mulyadi; Head of Department of Public Works and Spatial Planning of North Penajam Paser Regency Edi Hasmoro; and Head of the North Penajam Paser District Education, Youth and Sports Office, Jusman, and the Balikpapan Democratic Party DPC General Treasurer, Nur Afifah Balqis as suspected bribe recipients.

Meanwhile, as a suspect for giving bribes, the KPK has named a private party named Achmad Zudi.

Third, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named the Regent of Langkat Publishes a Plan for Warring Angin as a suspect in bribery related to infrastructure projects. This decision was made after the anti-corruption commission held an OTT on Tuesday, January 18.

He was named along with four other suspects, namely the Village Head of Balai Kasih who is the brother of Terbit Plan, Iskandar PA; and three private persons or contractors, namely Marcos Surya Abdi, Shuhandra Citra, and Isfi Syahfitra. Then as a bribe giver is Muara Warin Angin which is a private party or contractor.

Finally, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) ensnared the Surabaya District Court (PN) Judge, Itong Isnaeni Hidayat in the OTT on Wednesday, January 19 yesterday. He was named a suspect in the alleged bribery case management for the dissolution of PT Soyu Giri Primedika.

Not only Judge Itong, the KPK has also named a substitute clerk, Hamdan, as a suspect for receiving bribes. Meanwhile, as a bribe giver is a lawyer representing PT SGP, Hendro Kasiono.

The bribe was given by Hendro to Hamdan as a representation of Judge Itong. During OTT, IDR 140 million was found as a sign that the case was being handled.
