JAKARTA - The government has again extended the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) on the island of Java-Bali for one week from January 18 to 24, 2022.

This is stated in two Instructions from the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri), namely Inmendagri Number 3 of 2022 concerning PPKM Level 3, Level 2, and Level 1 COVID-19 in the Java and Bali Regions.

Meanwhile, PPKM outside Java-Bali has been extended for two weeks until January 31, 2022. This is stated in Inmendagri Number 4 of 2022 PPKM Level 3, Level 2, and Level 1 and Optimizing the COVID-19 Handling Post at the Village and Sub-District Levels to Control the Spread of Corona Virus Disease 2019 in Sumatra, Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua.

The Director-General of Regional Administration of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Safrizal ZA, said that this Inmendagri is a form of government mitigation to increase vigilance in the potential increase in COVID-19 cases, especially the Omicron variant.

"These two Inmendagri are guidelines for regions to be more responsive and alert and take anticipatory steps that are followed up with regional policies, so that regional responses to reduce the number of exposed cases can be more measured," said Safrizal in his statement, Tuesday, January 18.

Safrizal said, in this Inmendagri, the government changed the rules that only visitors with the green category in the PeduliLindungi application could enter special public places for PPKM in Java-Bali.

Previously, the yellow category was still welcome to enter public spaces. The green category means that they have received two doses of vaccination and have not been declared exposed to COVID-19.

"For hotels, supermarkets, cinemas, sports and fitness facilities at all levels, only the green category for the PeduliLindungi application is allowed to enter, but there are exceptions for people who cannot be vaccinated for health reasons," said Safrizal.

There are a number of areas that have undergone a change in the assessment in the extension of the Java-Bali PPKM this time. The regencies/cities that implemented Level 1 were 47 regions from the previous 29 regions, Level 2 as many as 80 regions from the previous 95 regions, Level 3 as many as 1 region from the previous 4 regions.

Meanwhile, regions in PPKM outside Java-Bali that implemented Level 1 were 238 regions from the previous 226 regions, Level 2 was 138 regions from the previous 149 regions, Level 3 was 10 regions from the previous 11 regions.
