JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said the number of patients exposed to the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in Jakarta continues to increase and now there are 825 cases with 243 cases of which are local transmissions.

"There are a total of 825 Omicron cases in Jakarta, 582 exposed from abroad, 243 cases of local transmission or non-Foreign Travelers (PPLN) transmission," Riza said at the Jakarta City Hall, quoted by Antara, Monday, January 17.

With this number, said Riza, bed occupancy (BOR) at the COVID-19 referral hospital has also increased.

"For the treatment unit, the occupancy reaches 20 percent. The ICU is still five percent. So there is a big difference between the ICU and the BOR," said Riza.

Regarding the increase in cases of Omicron Jakarta, which Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that Jakarta would become a battlefield, Riza stated that his party continued to coordinate with a number of parties to deal with the dangers of the new variant of COVID-19.

"For this reason, DKI Jakarta in collaboration with the Central Task Force, the Minister of Transportation, the Ministry of Finance and all, the Ministry of Health, is ready to face the battlefield in order to fight the new variant of the corona, Omicron," said Riza.

The Gerindra politician stated that Jakarta as the capital city is a transit location for foreign nationals or Indonesian citizens (WNI) returning from overseas trips.

Therefore, Riza asked all parties to participate in fighting the new variant.

"Of course everything requires the participation and support of all parties, especially for all citizens of Jakarta and Indonesia," he said.
