JAKARTA - Face-to-face learning (PTM) at SMAN 4, Jalan Batu III, Gambir, Central Jakarta, continues even though one class XII student at the school is positive for COVID-19.

The head of SMAN 4 Jakarta, Heriyanto said. PTM at the school is still running, except for one class where there are students who are confirmed positive. The school also applies Distance Learning (PJJ) for the class.

"After coordinating with the (Education) Sub-Department, Gambir Health Center, it was decided that PTM would continue to run, only for classes with (positive) children to stop first, so PJJ," said Heriyanto, quoted by Antara, Monday, January 17.

Heriyanto explained that the decision to continue PTM in addition to classes where there were positive students was the policy of the Gambir District Health Center.

Based on the chronology, the student was exposed to a family cluster, namely his older brother who had just traveled from outside the area.

The student felt symptoms of COVID-19 after returning from school on Tuesday, January 11. Then, he decided not to go to school the next day on Wednesday, January 12.

"On Tuesday he was 'not' feeling well after school. He decided on Wednesday that he would not come in until now, then Friday (14/1) yesterday we school only found out (students) were positive," said Heriyanto.

In addition to conducting PJJ, the school also ordered all students in the exposed class to take a PCR test. A total of 50 students, teachers and employees were swab tested by the Gambir District Health Center.

The school also understands if there are parents who do not allow their children to PTM.

"We personally want (schools) to be closed first, but what kind of health center direction does the school run. If there are parents who don't allow their children (PTM), that's okay," he said.
