SEMARANG - President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Johar Market in Semarang, Central Java, which was completed after a fire a few years ago.

Jokowi also hopes that the market, which is already good and tidy, will become a bustling market.
"Restoring the past glory of Johar Market and as a 'landmark' of Semarang City," he added.
President Jokowi emphasized that the crowded market indicates that there is a movement of the people's economy with transactions and buying and selling activities that move the people's economic chain.
The revitalization by becoming a cleaner, modern, and orderly market, he said, did not disturb the rules of Johar as a cultural heritage building.
The North and Central Johar Markets were built at a cost of IDR 146 billion, while the South Johar Markets were built at a cost of IDR 103 billion.
To increase the capacity of traders, the Kanjengan Market was built which is still in one area with a budget of Rp. 20.3 billion.
