SOLO - The Surakarta City Government will soon work on the renovation of Jongke and Harjodaksino Markets following the completion of the Legi Solo Market construction project.

The Head of the Surakarta City Trade Office, Heru Sunardi, said that currently, the plan to renovate the two markets is in the final design preparation stage or Detail Engineering Design (DED).

"Both are DED, they just have to stay at the Ministry," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 15.

The first renovation will be carried out to Jongke Market with a budget of Rp170 billion. Therefore, in the near future, his party will find an emergency market that can be used to sell traders.

"In Jongke, there are about 1,600 traders. They will choose the field (as an emergency market)," he said.

Heru said that the Jongke Market construction process would begin in 2023.

"Later (the process) will be at least a year, multiyears. So 2024 will be completed early," he said.

Meanwhile, the construction of Legi Market itself has now been completed and in the near future traders will be directed to immediately move their wares from the emergency market to a new place.

Previously, the Surakarta City Government had conducted socialization to traders regarding the transfer. Heru said the transfer process would take at least a week.

"Later, the transfer will be inaugurated. If the total number of traders, including oprokan, reaches 3,009 traders, it is certain that all of them will enter," he said.
