Ridwan Kamil: I'm Doing Research To Become President, It Takes IDR 8 Trillion

JAKARTA - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil admitted that he was ready if any party opened the door to carry him forward in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

However, if no party proposes to him, Kang Emil - as Ridwan Kamil is called - admits that he will continue his leadership in West Java. This means that he will return to fight in the upcoming West Java gubernatorial election.

"Speaking of reality, so my position has two choices, it's like two doors. The first door continues the second period, because I am the governor for only period one. So if I choose the left door in 2024, I will participate in the gubernatorial election again for the next 5 years," said Ridwan Kamil in the discussion Fisipol Leadership Forum: Road to 2024 which was followed from the UGM Fisipol YouTube, Friday, December 3.

"For the second door, national leadership. Because Pak Jokowi will finish in two terms. That means who will continue in the future," continued Kang Emil.

Furthermore, regarding candidacy for the presidential election, Ridwan Kamil said, learning from his experience as a bride and groom twice, that to become a leader in Indonesia, there are three conditions. First, electability and preference. Second, logistics. Third, the supporting party.

"Logistics, it's expensive, trillions to become president. I did research, Rp. 8 trillion, where did I get Rp. 8 trillion from?," said Emil.

"The last two I don't have, where does the trillions come from, I don't have a party. I only have one now, number one, namely electability and preference," he added.

According to Emil, electability and preference are directly proportional to technocratic, achievement, and populist performance. Because he only has the capital, for now what can be done is to increase the electability and public preference for him.

"Just increase one, because it's the cheapest. With good work, with populism and occasional content, I balance it there," explained Emil.

So that if, if it performs well and is eyed by political parties to be carried forward for the 2024 presidential election, Ridwan Kamil states that he does not refuse to be asked for a proposal.

"So if it turns out that the number one is good, I am given number three for national leadership, yes I will not refuse, that's about it," he said.

However, said Emil, he knew himself to be promoted by the party to become a presidential candidate. If no political party requests it, then he ensures that he will run for the 2024 West Java gubernatorial election.

"But I also know myself. I have to know who your party carries, I'm not sure, you're not a member, so if you don't, you have to accept it. If there isn't a party that carries the most realistic on my menu, it is to continue with the second volume of governor," explained Emil.

"But if there is a party that needs a figure with decent electability, maybe my figure will be counted, yes, I'm bismillah," he continued.

Nevertheless, Emil admitted that he had decided to choose a political party that was Pancasilais as a place of shelter.

"That's why I have decided next year I will join a political party which color or this tablecloth or the color of the security guard's shirt or the red hijab. I don't know yet. But what is certain is that Pancasilais I will be there. Because I think Pancasila is a fixed price, it shouldn't be too harsh. the left should not be too right, the politics of the middle way that I chose," he explained.

It's just that, added Emil, his choice depends on the political party that will open the door and choose him as a presidential candidate in 2024. He is also confident enough to win in the upcoming election.

"So if you ask me if I want to run, I'll wait for the door to open. Because I can't open the lock, I'm not the one holding the key. But if the door has been unlocked and welcome, I have participated in the Pilkada twice, so I have a method of winning the democratic competition. Bismillah," he said. Ridwan Kamil.
