JAKARTA - A total of 138 elementary school principals in Bandung City, West Java took the Koran writing test as part of optimal implementation in carrying out main tasks, functions, and moral responsibilities to students.

Bandung Mayor Oded M. Danial in Bandung, Wednesday, said the activity was part of the socialization of the Al Quran Writing Movement (Gelisan) Program which is one of the methodologies for interacting with the Koran in the Bandung Religion program.

"Gelisan Al Quran program is an extraordinary, creative innovation. Because if we read we don't necessarily write, but if we write, God willing, we will read," he said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 1.

One hundred elementary school principals took the test at a hotel in Bandung. The Gelisan Program is also a series of activities for the 211th Anniversary of the City of Bandung.

According to Oded, the activity was also held in order to shape the community to love the holy book of Muslims more.

With this program, he said the principal was considered to be more effective in socializing the Gelisan program to his students.

Head of Bandung City Education Office, Hikmat Ginanjar, said that his party is equipping elementary school principals to be able to implement an Excellent and Religious Bandung.

"Because excellence will start with education, then religion is part of how every human soul becomes a very essential need to get closer to God," he said.

He said that if the Gelisan program was implemented in schools, the habits that students often do at school could be carried out again with the addition of the Gelisan program.

"Hopefully it will be normal soon (school activities, ed.), the children will be able to recite the Koran again when they enter, the children will be able to pray Duha again, the children will be able to practice their prayers again," he said.
