JAKARTA - There was a clash between the Nanggala Kopassus Task Force and the Amole Task Force (Brimob) in Timika, Papua. It was later discovered that the trigger for the clash was just a trivial matter.

The clash started when six members of the Amole Company 3 Task Force were selling cigarettes around the Ridge Camp Pos RCTU Mile 72 right in front of the Mess Hall, Timika, Papua, on Saturday, November 27.

Then, 20 members of the Sartas Nanggala Kopassus came to buy cigarettes. However, there is a debate about the price of cigarettes.

In the end, the debate ended in a clash between the two groups.

Five Injured People

Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, said the clashes caused injuries. Where, the victim came from the Amole Task Force.

"There are 5 people (victims of Polri members)," said Kamal when confirmed, Monday, November 29.

However, Kamal did not elaborate on the injuries suffered by the 5 members of the National Police. It was only emphasized that there had been a beating against members of the Amole Company 3 Task Force.

"The beatings used blunt and sharp objects," said Kamal.

Apart from that, Kamal stressed that the clashes had been resolved peacefully. The two leaders have been brought together to maintain the synergy between the TNI and Polri.

"Alhamdulillah, we have met. They are no longer in trouble. They are not put in the post anymore," said Kamal.

Legal proceedings

On the other hand, Kamal also emphasized that he would impose disciplinary sanctions on members of the Amole Task Force (Brimob) involved in the clashes. However, the matter has been resolved amicably.

"Disciplinary action against those involved in fights will still be carried out," said Kamal.

On a different occasion, the TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa said that legal proceedings were being carried out against unscrupulous members of the TNI suspected of being involved in a commotion with Brimob in Timika, Papua. This process is being carried out by the TNI Military Police Center together with the TNI AD Military Center.

"The TNI Military Police Center together with the TNI AD Military Center are carrying out legal proceedings against all members of the TNI who were involved in the alleged crime in Timika," Andika said.

In addition, the former Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) has coordinated with the National Police. So, Andika said, Brimob members who took part in the commotion could also be processed.

"The TNI has also coordinated with the National Police to carry out legal proceedings against unscrupulous members of the Police who were involved in the alleged crime in Timika," he said.

TNI-Polri Synergy is Maintained

On the other hand, the National Police stated that the clash between the Nanggala Kopassus Task Force and the Amole Task Force would not affect the synergy between the TNI and Polri. Synergy will continue to run strong.

"Once again, the synergy and solidity of the TNI-Polri must not be disturbed, this must be maintained and the problem continues to be strengthened," said Karo Penmas of the Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono.

The solid TNI-Polri synergy is also proven by the fast resolution of problems. Because, it was decided that the settlement of the problem was carried out peacefully.

"If there are problems that must be resolved as well as possible and as soon as possible, including those in Tembagapura, they are only minor problems. But what is clear is that the leaders there have resolved them all," said Rusdi.

"The problem has been solved now that the implementation of the duties of each unit has been going well. Once again, the solidity and synergy between the TNI and Polri must be strengthened," continued Rusdi.

Strengthening the synergy between the TNI and Polri, continued Rusdi, is very important. Because, synergy is the key to solving problems that occur in Indonesia.

"The solidity and synergy between the TNI and Polri is a strategic strength for this nation," said Rusdi.
