JAKARTA - The Greater Indonesia Retired Association (PPIR) hopes that the General Chair of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto, will again nominate himself as a presidential candidate in 2024.

"We really hope that Pak Prabowo Subianto will run for re-election. We are solid and affirm that we are ready to win Pak Prabowo," said PPIR General Chair Major General TNI (Ret.) Musa Bangun after inaugurating the East Java PPIR board in Surabaya, quoted by Antara, Friday, November 26.

At the inauguration, Musa confirmed Major General TNI (Ret.) Tony S as chairman of the East Java PPIR DPD.

According to Musa, the inauguration of the East Java PPIR is part of the consolidation of the organization and is part of the Gerindra Party.

"During the 2019 Presidential Election, PPIR was part of Gerindra. Today in East Java, administrators from the DPD to DPC or district/city levels were appointed, even branches," he continued.

Although the presidential election is still around 2.5 years away, Musa admits that he has returned to close ranks to support Prabowo Subianto as the number one person in the country.

"We must consolidate, close ranks with enthusiasm. We are PPIR ex-soldiers who have retired with various backgrounds from officers to the lowest soldiers," said Musa.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of the East Java Gerindra DPD, Anwar Sadad, said that PPIR is part of the party and has a duty to listen to the aspirations of the citizens.

"Every election event, PPIR always works together with us and actively helps people in need," said the deputy chairman of the East Java DPRD.

His party is also committed to remain solid in supporting Prabowo Subianto as President of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2024-2029.

"We guarantee 100 percent. All Gerindra East Java cadres, including solid wing organizations, fully support Pak Prabowo to fight in the upcoming presidential election. I believe this is the time for him to become President," he said.
